Spare parts, safety equipment, deck & engine stores — sourced, cleared and delivered to the vessel

A vessel is a self-contained operational unit that must carry everything it needs to complete a voyage safely and legally — yet it cannot carry unlimited inventory. The ship chandler and ship supplier fill the gap: sourcing, clearing through customs, and delivering to the vessel the equipment, consumables, spare parts, and safety items that keep it operational and compliant. At Unified Maritime Services, our ship supply division operates as an integrated part of our port agency, ensuring that vessel supply requirements are met efficiently within the port stay window without extending the vessel's schedule.

Deck & Engine Stores

Deck stores include rope, wire, mooring lines, shackles, paint, welding materials, cleaning chemicals, and general maintenance supplies. Engine stores include lubricating oils, filters, gaskets, seals, packing material, and electrical components. These are the everyday consumables that keep a vessel's maintenance programme running. We source from approved marine suppliers in Sharjah, Dammam, and our Indian Subcontinent network, verify delivery against the vessel's order, and supervise loading aboard to ensure the correct quantities are received.

Spare Parts Procurement

Spare parts procurement is the most technically demanding aspect of ship supply. A Vessel needs a replacement fuel injection pump, a specific bearing for the main engine's intermediate shaft, or a certified replacement for a bridge navigation instrument — and it needs it before the vessel departs. Our procurement team works with maker-authorised distributors and approved marine spare parts stockists to source the exact part, verify its certification, and get it to the vessel. For parts not available in-region, we organise international airfreight, handle all import documentation and customs clearance, and deliver the part port-side within the vessel's port stay wherever possible.

SOLAS-Certified Safety Equipment

Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations mandate that all lifesaving appliances and fire safety equipment on board are maintained in serviceable condition and are within their service dates. Life rafts require annual hydrostatic release unit (HRU) replacement and periodic servicing; fire extinguishers require annual inspection and 5-year pressure testing; immersion suits, EPIRBs, and SARTs have defined service intervals. We source and supply SOLAS-certified safety equipment through approved service stations, arrange servicing and re-certification of existing equipment, and supply crew with the documentation required for Port State Control inspection.

Medical Chest Supplies

International maritime regulations (ILO MLC 2006 and flag-state requirements) mandate that every vessel carries a prescribed medical chest for the crew's health needs during a voyage. The medical chest must be maintained, restocked after any significant use, and kept within expiry dates. We source maritime-grade pharmaceuticals, first aid consumables, and medical equipment from approved suppliers, prepare the customs documentation for duty-free delivery to the vessel as ship's stores, and assist the vessel's Master with the ILO MLC medicine chest compliance checklist.

Nautical Charts & Publications

SOLAS requires vessels to carry up-to-date navigational charts and publications for their intended voyage. With the transition to Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), the requirement now includes current chart folios and licensed electronic chart data. We supply updated chart portfolios, Admiralty Notices to Mariners, Light Lists, Pilot Books, IAMSAR manuals, and International Safety Management (ISM) Code publications. For ECDIS-equipped vessels, we coordinate the supply and installation of updated electronic navigation data through approved AVCS and PRIMAR licensing channels.

Customs Clearance for Ship Stores

In the UAE and Saudi Arabia, all goods delivered to a vessel as ship's stores are subject to customs procedures. Duty-free delivery of ship's stores requires specific customs documentation — a Ship Stores Declaration, proof of vessel registration, and confirmation that the goods will not be landed onshore. Our licensed customs team prepares all documentation for duty-free delivery, ensuring that the vessel's supply arrives without customs delay and without any liability for import duty on goods that are legitimately intended for sea use.
